The Debt Debate on Friday 2nd May for IVA.co.uk was a huge success and was attended by a large audience of Insolvency Practitioners, Creditors, Journalists, Industry Experts, Students and Forum Members.

As ever, the debate was set to be a controversial event in light of the current economic climate and there were notable comments about regulation of all debt solutions, including IVA’s, Bankruptcy and Debt Management Programmes.

Testimonials from this debt event:

The subject of personal insolvency, whichever solution is preferred by an individual in financial difficulty, remains immensely topical in today's post "credit-crunch" environment. I look forward to further debates on these subjects into the future, and am pleased that yet again iva.co.uk is tackling the issues in this profession from a sound practical level rather than a regulatory platform

Melanie Giles, Panel Member and Insolvency Practitioner

Lenders are not obliged to accept less in settlement of a debt than they are entitled to or to freeze interest or charges. Not all solutions involve debt write off and some solutions may result in the total amount payable increasing, or the period over which it is to be repaid increasing. Debt solutions will affect your credit rating which records all financial activity for 6 years. Your assets and property could be at risk in some solutions. Conditions apply and each application will be subject to acceptance and eligibility.
