Probably a bit late to ask now but my husband has taken out an IVA about 6 months ago and we are really struggling to make ends meet.

I don't recall budgetting for any "extras" when we were sorting out the IVA so we are really struggling. The kids want the occasional school meal, need money to buy gifts for their school friends when invited to parties, school trips, holidays (should we have been allowed to budget for a modest 1 week UK holiday?). Not to mention the fact that things are needing replacing in the home - boiler leaking, freezer packed in etc. Need a new tyre on my car to keep it legal and have no budget to get the old banger through it's MOT!!!

Is there a standard list of allowances that we should have used?

If you e-mail me at my website, I will send you the current list of CCCS allowances - which I am suprised your husband's IP did not refer to when the IVA proposal was being proposed.

Thanks Melanie - have emailed you.

My husband's IP may well have referred to this but I need to check and make sure. We've had lots of problems with the IVA and I have been advised to make a complaint and to try to get the IVA amended as the IVA was in my husband's name only but it took my salary into consideration. I have since found out that I am liable for some debts that I thought were covered by the IVA. I feel the need to double check everything now as I am aware that we should have some money left to live on after we've paid all our monthly bills but that's simply not the case.
