Posted - 14 March 2010 : 10:58:10 Our grass is total rubbish now, Lloyd has killed one of the ornamental grasses we have and he's now started on the snowdrops!
I love to see a bluebell wood. |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 23:58:24 oooh I love bluebells too Jan!
My garden has always been full of wild flowers..daisies especially, but alas along came Dobby and now I have sparce plants and patchy grass!! |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 22:01:42 Our daffs are just starting to come through, but we have a wonderful show of snowdrops.
I can't wait for the bluebells to flower, they are my favourite.
Oh to be somewhere hot, by a pool and with a glass of something. |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 21:55:39 Daffs are my favourite flower...apparently in short supply this year?? Although I've seen loads for sale.
I dug up my daff bulbs 'cos they're dangerous to dogs but I have a lovely vase full out of the dobsters reach
I can see myself on the veranda with you H...maybe an Italian one |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 21:48:22 Yeah I think I would too... I can see myself sat on a veranda looking out over a wonderful view, with a glass of wine in my hand and the sun beating down on me........... ok now we are all depressed lol
I would settle for spring actually springing... for the first time that I can ever remember there are no dafodils this mothers day growing by the grass verges in the village. The kids have always picked me a bunch.

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 20:52:56 My dad in law speaks spanish and it really helps whan on hols, especially in Barcelona where you get cheap rates if you're Spanish ( as opposed to being ripped off )
He would live there no problem but mum in law won't go....despite me trying my best to persuade her |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 15:08:51 Thought stuffed vine leaves were dreadful! Don't like moussaka either. Can't stand aubergines.
Skip - Dave could have your share of the drinks!
I will try most things, although I'm funny about fish. Has to have every bone removed before I'll touch it! |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 12:59:54 I've just caught up with this!
Mel, I would be as fussy if Dave didn't do the cooking, but I would be living on a diet of fish fingers, Pot Noodles and things like that, even on holiday!
I will only eat things if I know what is in them and I certainly wouldn't try stuffed vine leaves - leaves belong on trees and vines, not in my tummy!
Also if I went all inclusive I would expect a discount as I don't drink and soft drinks are cheaper! |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 12:12:26 Being on holiday is all about the food for me I'm afraid.... I love it.. I love eating it and wil ltry everything.
I adore Greek food, hence the return to Rhodes. I too loved stuffed vine leaves and absolutely adore authentic Mousaka.
talking of spanish... my spanish is limited to....
Dos Beers Por favor (dont even know if I've spelt that right..lol)

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 11:12:39 Hola Mel!
We probably will once we have decided where we are going. Night school is not really an option at the moment with my shift working.
It's a few years down the line at the moment so looking at all options. |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 10:57:14 Hola Jan. Will you be learning Spanish before you go?
I am learning the language at the moment at nightschool and it is really fascinating. I love my lessons.
Hasta pronto!! |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 10:49:50 We are looking at retiring out to Spain, or somewhere warm, once the IVA is finished, but I won't be going anywhere with an ex pat population and most definitely wouldn't be doing English pubs. |

Posted - 13 March 2010 : 10:31:42 We sometimes got to Maccy D's when away from home (not for me tho) I have an allergic son and we know that if he has certain foods he will be OK as they are pretty universal. We always would prefer to eat local but sometimes thats just too risky with allergies. If we can find certain cuisines (ie italian etc) then we would eat at a restaurant but I would have a nervous break down taking a peanut allergic child into a Thai restaurant (even tho I love Thai food).
We are learning Italian so that we can have an extended stay in Florence (at least a year - possibly permanent) once we are debt free. We will be immersing ourselves into the culture and not looking for English places (except perhaps a good old english pub with a pub quiz occasionally) |

Posted - 12 March 2010 : 23:02:09 I am sitting here wondering if Skippy would be so keen on self-catering holidays if she did not have Dave to do the cooking!!!! Sorry Skip - could not resist that one! |

Posted - 12 March 2010 : 20:19:11 I must admit that I avoid places that do English food, English pubs and the like.
I love trying local food.
