I just wrote a post and lost it because I wasnt logged in, if it comes on twice I apologise. I couldnt find it.

I dont know if I dreamed this but is there a lease car company that would accept someone who has a 'blow a credit check computer' type credit rating?

My car is a cause for concern, an MOT last week wasnt too bad; £170. The last two trips before today, after 10 minutes the gear stick was really stiff and I could barely get the thing into gear, any gear. Today it went completely I had to coast into Tesco's car park, turn it off and start it up in gear, thats the only way. Green flag wouldnt tow it because by the time they got there, it was drivable. It only packs up when its warmed up, he diagnosed a dry gearbox. I am fearing open wallet surgery.

I so should have bought a car when I had the chance.

Hope everyone is Ok, I am nearing the end of my course, the work is full on right now. I will not know if I have passed until the end of March. I have a bit of a health issue, which is being ignored for the time being. Coley boy is healthy and beautifully affectionate at the moment. One of our other cats got stuck up a tree today, my son climbed up and got her down, agains my advice.

Thanks for anyones help here.

Thats what my friend says too about the brakes, I dont them though, I am used to touching the brake and the car stopping. I have to learn to brake that little bit early.

Please dont appologise, its just my way of saying things. I sacked the idea of going to college yesterday. I was going to get a taxi but botty was too sore and I couldnt imagine sitting there and walking around the place all day with my bruises.

kallis3 Posted - 11 February 2010 : 16:40:16
Sorry, when you said you had sacked college I thought you had packed it in! Apologies for that!

Hubby says that it is usual for you to take it easy for a while with new brakes as they have to bed themselves in.

Glad your bum is a bit better and hope the toe improves soon.

Hi

I think there is some confusion here Jan. I havent packed in college. I couldnt attend yesterday as botty is a bit sore and I didnt have a car. The problem was it was an important day, our portfolio's were due to be sorted and it was the last day of contact for our mentees'. I have emailed my tutor.

The car was £450 for gear box and brakes,(the MOT garage pointed this out last week). My contigency is gone but I have a car. It felt lovely to drive yesterday, gear changes were beautiful, I have been crunching and finding get 1st and 2nd difficult for a good while. One problem is the brakes are a bit rubbish, they said no heavy braking for a month, errr a chance would be a fine thing. I drove it around the back streets before hitting the main roads. I didnt like the brakes so I took it back. They said its normal for new brakes to be spongy. I asked for the old bits so I could check them out with a mechanic I know and they agreed to this.

Thanks so much for all of the replies to this, I have book marked the lease company. Its fantastic to have another option.

Botty feels a little bit easier today, my toe isnt though its black. Was going to go to A and E with it but the snow is back.

Love to all.

What a shame you've packed in college - you were doing so well!

Glad the car will be sorted, sorry it's taking so much money though.

Who fitted the new clutch last time round?? hey shouldnt be failing that quickly, and dont let them fob you off by blaming your driving style.
Not sure it would have more than a 12 month warranty though so fingers crossed for you.

Hope your bum is better soon!!

Hey right back. I hope youre doing OK also. You say the nicest things, blushing here, so I am.

I am getting my car back today fixed, 300 pounds of my contigency gone, some sort of flange gear box issue. That makes the London trip in half term impossible. Hey, maybe I shall give the kids a paintbrush and get them painting the outside loo and shed, then burn the front fence we took down. My kids love bon fires. Might warm the planet up a bit.

I have sacked college this morning, I cant sit in class, cant sit anywhere.

Hey there Lily..just caught this thread...good to see you again..always loved the flying dove..!!
freelili Posted - 09 February 2010 : 16:12:36
I am not quite sure what to make of what they are saying about my car. I had a clutch fitted in 2008 and they said if the clutch has failed then its under warranty, however, if I have been driving it wrong and the clutch is worn out then its my fault. Hmmmm...I have been driving around for more than twenty years now and have had only one new clutch, can you knacker a clutch in 19 months? They also need the paper work which I cant quite locate, I think its with the car. If I could stand on some step ladders and get the folders down I could take a peek in the boxes but I am not up to it. I know I will have kept the paper work, even if I havent the money will be on the bank statements from that time, I keep everything. They are still waiting on confirmation about whats wrong with it. I dont usually worry about these things as you cant change them. It doesnt look like we will be going away next week. Never mind, everthing happens for the best.... right?
Julie Posted - 09 February 2010 : 12:14:24
Yes its Julie aka swansgirl

Well done on the not smoking!!! Keep it up and keep in touch xx
freelili Posted - 09 February 2010 : 11:43:30
Awww thanks. I am just going now, its so nice to hear from you also. Have you all changed your names? I am seeing Lisa and Julie and I am thinking youre swansgirl, right?

I am not too bad, I have done the washing and vacuumed and put some washing out (its been sleeted on, who cares?). Made the beds to a fashion, pulled them over as my Mother would say. I cant quite do the dishwasher that bit between bending and standing is a bit oouchy.

Oh and by the way, I am still not smoking, its been seven months now.

Just saw this and wanted to say Hi to you and Cole

Skippy Posted - 09 February 2010 : 11:17:18
Oooh, that sounds painful! I hope you're feeling better soon.

I hope the car isn't too expensive, and that you have a great time in London xxx
freelili Posted - 09 February 2010 : 11:13:34
Hi Melanie, I didnt see your post there. Youre still here then? ~Giving out your lovely advice to people...There is nothing to compare with the hope that this site gives to people in debt. Its a horrible place to be and no matter what happens now, I know I can get through it and am still smiling.

Thanks very much, its nice to see you again also.

I havent taken the car yet, had a fall down the stairs last night, nothing serious. We have a downstairs bathroom and the stairs spiral at the top. I missjudged it and have a bit of a bruised botty. I am fine as long as I dont sit down. I dont think I would cope with the bus back or the walk so my son is coming home to help me. He is a good one, bless him.

I have just taxed the car and last week got a nice green MOT, so I am going to hang on and save up for a few months. The green flag bloke that came out yesterday said it wouldnt cost much to solve the 'dry gear box' problem. Although if his idea of being with me within the hour is anything to go by, I am in trouble.

I do have a decent contigency and some put away for London next week. Hopefully the problem will be solved. The cars look great on the site its a very good idea.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Lots of love for now.
kallis3 Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:53:26
Nice to see you again Lily and glad the course is doing ok.

Coley sounds wonderful and so glad he made a full recovery.

Sorry your car is being a pain. Hope it lasts out or that you can manage to get another one.

I'm fed up with the cold as well - sick of snow and ice.
freelili Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:49:36
Exactly Skip, how can they say global warming. I know our waste is a bit much, totally agree with that but please..... its freezing. Firstly I put thows over the sofa's so we could feel a bit warmer. Now its throws and those microwaved warmy type thingies and full on socks and slippers.
freelili Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:40:54
My car is 2001 so its nine years old now. The mechanic today said it was in good nick. Then again he dosent have to pay the bill. It has only had one owner and me. I just hope it gets sorted tomorrow without too much money, I saved £300 for the mot, I thought I might need some tyres. Holding the road hasnt been that good, mind you they dont grit these little lanes. Anyway, I will give these people a go. I do save money now and I was going to save for a kia or something cheap and cash. Can you trust those people selling cars off their drives? I dont know. I have heard they fail the MOT most out of all the cars.

I have got some cheap ticksts to London next week, going to take the kids but it really depends now on that heap of junk, I mean car.

Best laid plans, eh?

Anyway cherio for now and thanks again for your help.
Skippy Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:33:28
They'll have to shoot me as well Lily as I completely agree with you! I'm fed up with being cold!
freelili Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:31:30
Yeah. thanks so much, I will in touch, I want to get a job at the end of my course. I am fine, I think so anyway. I not going to give up on my new life. I just wish I had done things a bit differently, I could have bought a newer car, I thought about it but didnt do it. Hindsight eh?

I have to say, its a bitch being in the sticks in winter, we had two burst pipes and its been snowing again today. I cannot wait for the spring, bring it on.. This house is freeeeezing, the heating system is well, crap. Anyway, I am so going to celebrate the spring, might even go up to that place in the stone thing. Become one of those long gown types. I say, and I will probably get shot for this, bring on global b***** warming. I need some of that, I recycle and all that but if you ask me the polar bears have got nothing to worry about.

Coley boy says hi. He is looking at me right now, so cute... he has this new habit of announcing himself, its really cute.

Love to all, you lovely people you.

I'll definitely consider them if my car doesn't last until my BR has dropped off my credit file. It's only 5 years old this year, but there are already a few little hiccups!
lesley_ Posted - 08 February 2010 : 22:29:33
Glad it worked out for you andy, nice to have positive feedback from someone using them. I believe Julie and possibly Andy does too. x
