Topic: GT to acquire Tenon's IVA portfolio?

I really do worry for any ex Tenon clients who are coming to the end of their arrangement - I just hope GT make a better job of this handover than they did of the BE one. What slightly puzzles me is why GT are so acquisitive in this marketplace when other IPs such as Mel complain of ever reducing fe...

Apparently GT are looking at making another acquisition - they must feel they don't have a big enough backlog [:D] Below is the full text from Tenon's website: Potential disposal of Individual Voluntary Arrangements ("IVA") business The Company announces that it is in exclusive discussions with Gran...

I was fed the same line about having to wait longer as the old BE system only allowed the final distribution to be made on a certain day of the month. When my certificate finally arrived (6 months after final payment) it transpired that no final distribution was actually made as the residual funds w...

GT did not "inherit" cases from other firms - they bought the portfolios of other firms for not inconsiderable amounts of cash, presumably with a view to making sizeable profits. Operating within a regulated industry, they should be obliged to ensure they have sufficient staff resources to be able t...

font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:<hr height="1" noshade> Re-opening IVAs once they are closed is largely not cost-effective for IPs to do, unless the amount due is substantial and they can agree a fee for doing the work involved with all of the former creditors. Can you spot the...

A great idea to get this into the public domain Andy. Maybe the article can also highlight the total disregard that some IP firms have for the Data Protection Act when they pass confidential details of clients (and ex-clients for that matter) onto claims companies without first obtaining the requisi...

That's unbelievable - GT are delaying closure because the IP they bought the business from had previously overpaid themselves. This raises a few questions: 1. By how much have BE overpaid themselves? 2. Surely BE are in breach of some regulation here and should be reported to the IPA? 3. Wouldn't sc...

It normally depends on how much equity you have. If you have less than £5k equity (valued on a forced sale basis) then the IVA should be able to complete at the end of year 5. If you have over £5k equity it is likely that it will be extended for a 6th year.

2 months sounds like a perfectly reasonable timescale Mel, but this is a post about Grant Thornton - we all know that 6 months is their target closure time and they fail to achieve this in a lot of cases. This is totally unacceptable in most people's eyes, but not much anyone can do except follow GT...

I'm pretty sure he can't do it with the IVA still showing on the credit files - I've had many discussions with Ryan (he arranged a mortgage for me recently) and I'm sure that's what he told me, but I suppose it won't do any harm for Geoff to send Ryan an email anyway.
