My husbnd and I went to CAB yesterday and they advised that a IVa would be best for us. We have 40K debt.

I have loads of questions I need to get answered before we go any further but just hoping someone might be around to answer this one. We have a mortgage holiday due next march for 6 months as we are having a baby - will this still be allowed if we do IVA?

Many Thanks

Welcome to the forum Caro50 I'm sure an expert will be along to answer your question but dont worry yourself sick.

You could also always ring a company or 3 and get some info. Theres several companies covered on these forums.

Good luck.

Hi,

I would speak to a professional. Visit www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews. Give on or two a ring, and you will receive free and impartial advice as to all the options open to you and the best way forward fr your circumstances.

Be sure to mention about the mortgage holiday and the pending new arrival.

Having a mortgage holiday is a great idea to cover your income shortfall whilst you are away on maternity leave. I have recently done a few IVAs for couples expecting a baby, and so long as the payments are staggered to fit your income peaks and troughs over this period, they are very acceptable to creditors.

Did the CAB suggest any particular firms to you?

You can click on the link on Melanie's signature and input all your details for her to have a look at....and if there's no sport on today she may well look at it today!

I would be very happy to do so Caro - but why not give Payplan a ring as well and then you can compare the advice provided. No harm in taking a second or even a third opinion - and as Cath says you can reach me via the link on my site.

I thought things were a little quiet on that front caro. I will ask Andy to send you my personal e-mail address and then perhaps we can arrange to have a chat tomorrow.

I gather that two of my ladies have tried to contact you independently, and that you have arranged to chat to Tina tomorrow. So good luck with that and if you need to chat with me directly you now have my contact details.
