My husband would like to be a governor at our daughters school. It does say in the info pack that If you are bankrupt or have an interim debt relief order you cannot apply. How would he stand being in an iva? Thank you

An IVA is not an Interim debt relief order nor is it Bankruptcy.

Personally I think he would be ok to be a Governor, but wait till an expert stops by and confirms this.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt

Each schhol and education authority have different views on this! i was asked a while back and one area will not have anyone who is an IVA or was recently bankrupt, this is due to the decisions school govoners make around finance, yet other school are quite happy, they see it as someone who is address an issues.

Really he will have to speak to the school itself or the education authority it sits within.

You will be fine to accept that appointment - as you are neither bankrupt or subject to a debt relief order. Why these issues make any difference you anyone's ability to act as a parent governer is beyond belief in my book.
