My final payment for my IVA with Freeman Jones left my account yesterday. I was expecting to feel huge relief, like you might after a great weight has been lifted or after a really good poo. But, curiously, I feel every little. Does this mean I'm some sort of psychopath?

In all seriousness though, I'm looking forward to the whole thing wrapping up. I send my bank statement and wage slip in at the beginning of each month, so the last ones get sent this Friday.

I know I have to wait another year before I'm removed from the register, but can anyone tell me how long it typically takes for Freeman Jones to wrap things up with the Completion Certificate etc?

It will be three months from the date of the CC ( sometimes sooner) to come off the register and the year (assuming it was a 5 year IVA) for credit files to clear.

FJ aren't too bad, as long as you keep an eye on them, they do seem to be having a run of clerical problems at the moment, so be pro-active.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Thanks Foggy. FJ haven't been too bad, but their communication could be a lot better. I'll be sure to keep them on their toes!

If you mean the Insolvency Register then you should be off within three months of receiving your completion letter, credit records are different.

Well done on getting to the end

3 months to the day ours came off then started getting bombarded with emails saying I could apply for a credit card.

Just been accepted for one - I don't care about the interest rate or credit limit because I have no intentions of leaving an outstanding balance.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Well done Rick71.

Lifenoteasy - I'm too scared to apply for a CC in case of rejection.

You can try a few firms who will do a soft search which will not appear on your credit record and at least you will know if you stand a very good chance of being accepted.

Do a soft search check - it will tell you who is likely to agree without impacting on your credit score.

Whilst I was still on the iva register it was all no - within the last week very different story.

Keep the pressure on FJ to close quickly - some firms can take up to 6 months!

Blimey! Will do. I think I've been one of their easier clients, so I'd hope that would make the process a bit more straightforward. Still, it would be nice to have everything all done and signed off this side of Christmas...!

Hi Rick71,

First of all congratulations on completing your IVA.

Providing everything is in order, which it sounds like it is, then we'd hope to have your completion certificate with you within 4-6 weeks.

If you need it sooner for any reason then please do feel free to message me directly at Steven.hewitt@freemanjones.com.

Congratulations again and I hope this helps.

Regards
Steven Hewitt - a member of the team at Freeman Jones
