I was in an iVA, a year and a bit, but paid it off in August 2015. I am very eager to get on the housing ladder but don't feel like I can for ages! it just feels impossible! I have an uncle who is willing to put down money as a deposit (i have also accumulated £4000). My credit rating is very poor on noddle and clear score is very poor. i have taken out a credit card to use every month and set up dd to pay off in full (i only put a little on each month). Is there any way I can get a mortgage that you're aware of? i am a teacher so have a solid regular income.

Hi and welcome,

You are unlikely to be able to get a mortgage at the moment as your credit report will be shot for the full six years since the start of your IVA.

You can try and speak to Ryan or Shaun (details under the ask experts a question link on the left hand side of the page) to see if they can advise you.

I agree with Kallis. Your best option is to speak to a broker with experience in adverse credit, such as either Ryan or Shaun, both of whom have placed many mortgages for forum members post IVA.

Good luck.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

It is worth speaking with a broker in advance so they can advise you of the dos and donts between now and your credit file being cleared up. I know a few people who spoke with Shaun and while they will not qualify for a mortgage at good rates yet, they will be able to move quickly in the near future.
