I'm keeping it all together for the sake of my family but I am wracked with nerves and anxiety.

If i am successful I can finally move on with my life away from what has been the worst part of my life.

I feel I can't turn to anyone tho as no one will understand. I am ashamed I need this but life changing events have led me here

Hi

One way and another people on here do.

Different reasons and life experiences lead to the decision to go into an IVA but bear in mind that you are the one making this decision and claiming back your life.

Just make sure you go into this with your eyes wide open.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Make sure you understand the ins and outs and try to work with your IP rather than against -- I know some IP's do make that bit difficult. Get into the IVA mindset and the ride won't be so bad.

You have taken control -- now keep control :-)

Best of luck for the meeting.

My IP had mentioned it's not really a meeting as such as most creditors do it via email or fax.. what is the meeting for then on the date they have given me??

It's the deadline for votes. The creditors do have the option of turning up on the day for a cuppa and jaffa cake :-)

Good luck for your meeting Mylo. It wont be easy and it will seem like a lifetime for the years to roll by, but it will be a life education. Something you will remember for the rest of your life, something that will keep you on the level with your finances. The feeling of shame will turn into a feeling of accomplishment, accomplishment of getting out of a pickle, being able to manage money, budget your life so it never bites you in the bum again. A lesson you will be able to pass on, with the hindsight of having been through it and survived.
Having this forum will be your release, no one to judge you, everyone to praise you on your milestones, to comfort you with kind words when it gets tough and to just listen when you have a rant. Your life will change, but for the better. Good luck on your IVA journey and believe you can get past this.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Good luck :) I'm sure it will be fine ! Had mine 10 days ago and was so worried it would be rejected as a low return for creditors ! IP phoned day before to say all votes in and agreed ! Barclays wanted a modification of extra 12 months but got that down to 6 ! Hopefully you will soon have the same sense of relief I had and then buckle up for the IVA ride :)
IVA accepted 15 April 2015

when I was having the sleepless nights leading up to my creditors meeting, I ended up ringing my IP. They were very reassuring, and told me they wouldn't have taken my case on if they thought there was a chance of it being rejected.
getting there ....

Got there!!
