Hi I have completed my IVA a few weeks ago whoop whoop.
I need to know the defaults on my file I understand they will go after 6 years but they say default upto September 2015 is this correct?

Many thanks

Hang on in there its a great feeling to complete.

Hi,

Any defaults should date back to the original IVA date, you need to write to the data controllers for the creditors, enclose a copy of your completion letter and tell them to remove any defaults that shouldn't be there.

Hi

I have contacted all 3 CRA and my creditors with a copy of the certificate.
However should the defaults show upto current time.
They all do go back to the start but I'm thinking 6 years to drop off from the latest date?

They should drop off from the start of the IVA acceptance.

Creditors can continue to show month on month the dfdault however the start date of the default should not be after the start date of your iva.

Hi Just to go back to this, now almost August 2016 and my start date was 6 October 2010 completion cert dated 25. August 2015. I have defaults on my credit file from July 2010 upto around November 2015. Am I correct to think there should be no default dated later than 6th October 2010?
I have sent letters off again. Thanks

You should have all of those defaults removed now back to October 2010 but obviously it will take a while to sort out and just check again in October.

My iva started on 1st July 2010 and when it completed last year I then checked all my default dates were on or before this. I had to contact a few places to get my credit report updated with correct dates. Come the 1st of July this year it was lovely to watch all the defaults drop off my credit report along with the iva. I have nothing at all on it now except my mortgage. It's a lovely feeling when your credit report is clean, even better than receiving your completion certificate.

I would wait until October 2016 has passed then you can begin to tidy up your credit rating and make sure the defaults have dropped off.

You might find this quick video I made about cleaning up your credit record useful:

Noddle and Clearscore are also free credit agencies to consider using:

Thanks, great video. I have sent off letters (using the template from PJG Recovery) to all companies showing defaults after 6th October 2010 hopefully they will listen this time.

Best of luck - only a couple of months to go then you can tidy your records up.
