Hi, am new to the site & to the world of ivas.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We're 6 months in, still not in a routine proper.
I have set all bills to be made as soon as wages are in, but then whatever money is left just goes!
I'm constantly checking bank balance, can't save a penny, petrified of what will happen if a big bill comes in, how to pay for c'mas.
Any advice please?

It can be hard I do admit, make sure initially that you are claiming all the expenditure you can with your IP, have another look at this and contact them if you feel you're struggling too much.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Welcome to the forum and best of luck with the iva. It can take a while to settle into things.

communication is key so make sure you are not afraid to phone your iva firm if you have any issues.

Welcome to the forum. Keep on logging in 'cos you will find lots of helpful tips. It is hard to be in an iva but just keep thinking of the future and being debt free. It does end and the result is wonderful. As plasticdaft says keep communicating with your company to sort out any difficulties. Good luck!
Life after IVA is wonderful.

Welcome to the forum .... lots of advice on the forum available ... make your IP your best friend ... by working together and ensuring your expenses are reviewed each time something changes (however small) will pay huge dividends in the iva...don't wait for annual reviews.

So, if we're struggling (which we are) we can approach the Iva company we're with to try to adjust the payments?

Hi Nicpel --- I had my payments adjusted a few times, in both directions. It is only fair that, as they expect you to pay more when the going is good, that they relax a little when things get tight.

Hopefully you have a helpful IP (not all, I am afraid, are!)and the best advice is to echo luluj's comment above and keep your IP in the loop at all times --- as BT always used to say "It's good to talk".
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Sorry, if I appear to be asking really silly questions....is it normal that once bills have been paid etc there's only maybe £160 left for the rest of the month?

well it would depend on your individual Income and expenditure. What is the £160 for, is that with your housekeeping taken out?

Its good you have found the forum early on. I have learnt more about iva's in the last week since finding the forum than the five years I have been in iva.
Good luck
