Personally I would wait until August as it may give you more options. There is also the possibility that Aqua reject your application which could further damage your file. If they have 'pre approved' you and can guarantee no searches will be carried out then perhaps it would be different.

I agree -- wait out the few weeks, make sure your file is squeaky clean and see if you can get a mainstream, although I am happy with my Vanquis.

Thanks foggy your rite not sure if l get a mainstream one but if l can get with aqua l would want a low credit limit and would pay for something like petrol and pay it straight off each month.

So you think vanquis are better to go with once the 6 years is up. I did a soft credit search and l couldn't get with them now but had 90% chance getting with aqua.

i got an aqua card 6 months ago, my IVA is complete but will remain on my file until Jan 2018. The nice thing about aqua is that although the APR is high, it reduces by 5% each year (for 5 years) so after that time will be about the same as a mainstream card and has no foreign transaction fees which is a real bonus for me with work. They gave me a £300 limit initially and just last month asked if i wanted an increase to £950. I personally think aqua is better than vanquis but if you can hold out and get a mainstream one straight away then that is a better bet.
IVA started Jan 2012
Last payment made June 2014 @100p
Completion certificate received Sept 2014

Hi

I would wait a few weeks, then check your credit file to make sure the IVA has been removed

Good luck

Don't fret about the credit limit ( smaller is better to begin with ). It's the green ticks we are after :-)

Set up the direct debit to pay balance in full each month so you know you are keeping on top of things and a nil balance.
