So, thats it, after a long winded 7 Year IVA, with NRAM as the primary creditor and Cleardebt as the IP. Aperture have (after 3 months) finally acknowledged that no further money is owed.
Now just awaiting that elusive Completion Certificate.

Cleardebt in my personal circumstances were poor throughout, some terrible Case Handlers.

Aperture are just slow

DRSP were awful, constant calls and letters and robbed me (and the creditors) of 33%.

Its been a tough old journey.
Those IP`s do like to squeeze every last penny from you and the least I say about the dreadful PPI of Doom the better.

Few things I have personally learned from this are:

The IP is not impartial, regardless of what anyone says, they want your money and as much of it as possible.

Keep a record of every call, every letter and every email you make/receive

Also, its about time the IP`s were regulated and not by the pointless and toothless Gateway, but by the FCA. Mass Variations, PPI, Secured Loans and Mis-Selling, all will likely raise their heads at somepoint.

Finally, just wanted to say thanks to a few regular posters, who offer their time, advice and generally do good, without sales pitches or other motives
Your a credit to these boards.

For those just starting the journey, keep at it, you will win this.

Good Luck

Well done TJS and thank you for those kind words.

It looks like Aperture have certainly improved over their forerunners in completion times, so, hopefully, your certificate will be with you soon.

I made my last payment 26th march and received my completion certificate end of May. Was with Grant Thornton and then Aperture and had no problems what so ever

Well done on reaching the end. Not all IPs are not impartial (double negative!)

Also we are regulated by not only the Gateway but our governing bodies - out of interest what difference do you think it would make if the FCA took over the complaints handling from the Gateway?

The FCA and F.O have, historically, been seen to act and order compensation for the wronged parties, whereas the Regulatory bodies cannot interfere, other than issue fines and reprimands, and those fines disappear into their coffers with no recompense for the wronged party.

The FCA and FO carry a lot more bite.
I have had personal dealings with the FO and I can tell you, they leave no stone uncovered.

The issues I have had to deal with during my IVA mainly down to poor case handlers, both lying and offering bad advise, that they later deny or retrospective decide to change, was appalling.

I would have felt safe in knowing that a complaint would be heard and impartially decided upon should the regulator be the FCA/FO.

Lisa, I appreciate you are on the side of the IP and dont take my comments personally, they are borne out of experience, facts and actually living the 7 year nightmare.

was just interested. Previously complaints used to be taken up by the IPs governing bodies but it was decided it would be easier if the Gateway handled all complaints instead.

Have you had a complaint handled by the Gateway?

It's a collective effort - in many ways it should be Andy Davie who gets the credit.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

I will be corrected if I am wrong but I believe that he set up the board and has ensured that it remains independent from any company.
