Awww my poor little dog....well not so little

He's been treated for a skin condition and has come along really well. His coat is back to its shining glory. However, we notice his eyes were a bit "gunky" and he's become obsessive with licking his feet. This has led to his feet paws bleeding.

Took him to vets today and his skin condition has almost cleared but he's had an allergic reaction to the treatment, hence the eyes and "itchy" feet and now needs antibiotics

He'll be fine, but I felt so guilty leaving at the vets today.....I'm about to pick him up and know he's going to sulk with me!

The cats have been in their element...when they realised he's not here they've been running in and out of the living room....jumping for glee I'd say

He's back! Licked me to death and wagged his tail for Wales when he heard my voice...then promptly cried all the way home in the car!

The cats are not impressed he's returned

I'm glad he's back and that he's ok Julie, it's so worrying when they are ill.

I went to see my mum's dog this evening and I'm worried about her - she's got arthritis and her back legs are starting to go.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

We're not sure as she's a rescue dog but we think she's abour 9 - 11. She's a big dog as well which doesn't help, a rotty cross labrador (we think).

Awww poor dobby - hope he feels better know hes home x
Cats sounded like they were having a party!

My friends puppy recently hurt his paw n took his main pad off n had to be sewn on. He was very lucky n good job she took him straight to vet.
She has had endless trips to the vets n dressings n meds. She was very grateful for my advice on pet insurance (which she sorted at xmas) as the costs have gone through the roof.

We would love to get a dog & feel it would help my sons fear of dogs since he was attacked when he was 3. And he has passed his fear onto his brother with the way he acts when a unknown dog is about. Going to the park or a walk is now a nightmare.
But after seeing what everyone goes through with pets n being in a IVA - dont think we could manage it ;-(

Oooh, poor thing Mrs K, that really makes me cringe!

What a shame your son is so scared of dogs, that must be awful. If you lived closer you could come and meet Blaze (my mum's dog) - even though she's a big dog she is the most gentle dog you could meet. You can even take food from her mouth and she doesn't mind.

I know it is sad & he really freaks out especially if a unknown dog is off the leash, Ive got to be really careful cos he would run into a road to avoid a dog.
Ive had wonderful owners stop put the dog on the leash n try to get them pet the dog & i make a big fuss of the dog infront of them - but even that is hard for him, n his brother now is afraid cos of how the other one is.

I don't think there is a pool round here. She's on Metacalm at the moment but she can only have it for a week and then she's got to have injections for a month. Luckily she's insured!

I don't think we're that far from Cowley, but I don't think the pet insurance would cover it - thanks for letting me know though, I'll mention it to mum.

Hydra therapy would be ideal I would think Skippy for your Mum's dog.

Lyns, I wish I lived closer, my lab is the gentlest of gentlest dogs and very highly trained to obedience competition level. Fears wouldn't be removed overnight but just to be in the same room initially would be a good start etc., I offered this to AngelRainbow once as her daughter has a fear too but not heard anything yet and I am living close to her.

I love my dogs but do work them both so they're not like pets but training is my all time favourite hobby and spend hours a week doing this.

I actually think that the insurance might cover complimentary therapy so I'll get mum to check. Then it's down to whether or not Dave will go with them as I'm certainly not!!!

Is she covered by Petplan Skip? I think they cover for things like the swimming. A friend of mine had a mastiff who had to go swimming and they paid for it.

I hope she's ok Skippy. It is a worry isn't it?

Julie - sorry to hear about Dobby as well. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Mrs K, your kids would love my dogs as well, they're totally soft.

No, she's with Sainsburys but I think their higher level of cover has complimentary therapy cover so I'll need to check what mum has.

I'm not sure if it will be an option though as it depends if there are other dogs in the pool - Blaze has an issue with other dogs, in that she wants to play and makes a screaming noise (she's not at all aggressive) when she sees them. If there are other dogs it really won't work!

I don't think it'll be happening to be honest. I spoke to my mum about it and when I suggested hydrotherapy her first words were 'and where do you suggest I take her for that then?'

When I explained it was Cowley she then went on to say 'And how do you expect me to take her all that way' (it's not far).

I said we'd help but I got the impression she wasn't keen, which got my back up - I've offered to give up part of my weekend (I can think of many things I'd rather do!) and I didn't even get a thank you.

I won't be mentioning it again!!!

Grrrrrrrr!!!
