Hi there I had an iva with accuma set up in Dec 2006 under advice from the cab I failed my iva in Jan 2008 going bankrupt in may 2008(discharged may 2009) I thought I had built my credit rating back up and on experian my score is in the top category. Equifax had my score down as excellent too so thought all was good to apply for our first mortgage. The application was declined due to low credit score, under further investigation I realised my iva was still showing as active on the insolvency register and two credit reference agency's. I never realised until last week that accuma went into liquidation so using the power of Google I got in contact with grant Thornton who obviously took accumas Iva's. They have no record of my iva after many calls and checks. I actually failed the iva and went bankrupt before GT took over so that is the grey area. The insolvency service are also involved having tried to contact GT but again to no avail.I would be very grateful of any advice on this matter as I really have no idea were to obtain my iva termination letter.

When you filed for BR the court would have wanted evidence that the IVA had failed --- maybe they still have copies in their archives.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

The IP at Accuma would have been licesned by a governing body. The most common one is ICAEW and I think next is the IPA. Every year IPs have to send annual return on all their cases to the ICAEW and specifically specify any failed IVAs. You might therefore find that the ICAEW/IPA MAY have a record of your IVA. Just a suggestion... ICAEW contact no is 01908 248250 and IPA 020 7623 5108 Hope this is useful.

Hi marchy41
If you go on the insolvency register does it show as in an IVA or Bankrupt?

I think BKY drops off the register after 3 months following discharge Ryan so presume it must be showing IVA? Or am I making that up...?!

Don't be fooled by Equifax and Experian credit scores, they are rarely taken into account by lenders who have their own means of creating a credit score for you. The key will be in finding a lender who will accept your previous credit history and that will very much depend on your other circumstances.

Lisa you are right.

marchy41 - if the register shows the IVA, I presume it was before you went Bankrupt and you still have the Bankruptcy documents to confirm you went Bankrupt after the IVA was dated.
Is it not as simple as send these to Insolvency service and they will understand this was after IVA so will amend?

Hi guys thanks for all your help I had great news today the OR office in Ipswich opened up my old files and have changed the iva from active to terminated,I also got this in e-mail from the insolvency service head office Birmingham. Also Alan Coleman actually tracked down the IP who took on his Iva's when he left accuma but all that was not needed in the end.Grant Thornton also said they never took on any failed Iva's from accuma just the ones which were still running.
