Was told that my last payment to the IVA was last month. Woohoo BUT my celebrations have been deflated. When I have checked bank today another payment has been made. Contacted IVA who confirmed it should not have been paid and the bank have now completed a direct debit endemnity and money gone back in.
Unfortunately, I have not yet received anything in writing from IVA so I do not want to celebrate yet. They did tell me on the phone that they may extend the IVA for 12 months to cover any outstanding PPI's but I should not have to pay anything more.
Typical I should be able to celebrate today, but instead I am now panicking that my IVA will fail because I have cancelled the direct debit. I did ask IVA for it in writing but they said I will be receiving the final report shortly and again stated looking on my file last month was the final payment.
Has anyone else experienced this and can anyone confirm that I can put a smile on my face!!!!!
If it is over then my tip to anyone just starting is to use this forum and set up a spreadsheet so that you know exactly how much you can spend each month. It also helps if you have a wonderful mum-in-law who helps out for emergencies.
Well done on completion, don't worry I cancelled my direct debit as soon as the last payment had gone. Send them an email just asking for confirmation that your dd can be cancelled for your own piece of mind if you want...As Andy says certificate of compliance will arrive in due course.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Congratulations from me too. It is good to see that your IP has taken responsibility for the error of calling an extra direct debit as it was their fault it was called.
Get that confirmation email that the IVA is completed but also ask for confirmation that you are no longer bound by any clauses concerning windfalls, bonuses, etc.
Thanks everyone. I have emailed them to confirm there is no more monthly payments - hopefully get a reply soon.
Can't believe how fast five years have gone. It isn't an easy road, but is possible to get through. Certainly learnt my lesson and no more credit cards for me, will be transferring most of the money that used to go to the IVA into savings account so I can buy things straight off and not need credit.
It sounds as if you are due to get that money back janjan. Hopefully you can draw a line under the IVA once and for all soon, but do co-operate with any ongoing PPI investigation, and unfortunately this can delay the closure process if your case is deemed to have any PPI mis-selling claim treated as an asset.
