Hi,
I have just recieved a letter from equity in fianance with regards to an old mortgage which was closed 10 years ago. It was in joint names with my ex husband. This was not included in my IVA but they have sent out a letter for me to sign so they can claim. I;m not interested and my ex wont sign any how can i refuse? as i said this has nothing to do with my IVA.

Hi Clare. What they are after is to see if you paid any PPI which they can reclaim. If there was PPI then it will have to be paid into the IVA.

If I were you I'd just sign and return it telling them you have no contact with the other party. If they do reclaim PPI only half of it is due to your IVA as the other half rightfully belongs to your ex.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I agree with Foggy . Best to sign as it could end up delaying the closure of your IVA at a later date.

There is no harm in finding out whether you actually had any PPI on that loan.
