Can someone kindly advise me?

I haven't been working since April because my depression (which i've had for over 10 years)
got worse. I'm separated from my husband and living with my son in his house. I don't work or claim benefits - in fact I don't own any property over £100. My son supports me in terms of my daily living expenses. I've received a ccj for a credit card debt for over £14k (the debt has been assigned).

I don't intend to defend to this as I cant see any grounds, but will the court be willing to accept to my offer of a token £1 per month? even though this money will come as a gift from my son?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi and welcome

If you have no income then yes I am sure the court will agree that a token £1-£5 is acceptable

Have you considered speaking with your local CAB office and looking into availbale benefits ?

Do you have any other debts ? You should consider a DRO or bankruptcy to clear your debts

I certainly agree with Andy that you should speak to a benefits advisor. Also, if this is your only debt then a debt releif order may the best way forward but if there are other debts and you owe more than £15k in total, then bankruptcy may be the option.

If the depression has been caused by the stress of the debt and you intend to return to work an IVA or debt management could also be considered so it would be worthwhile getting some free advice from an insolvency firm.
