My partner has a good credit history and mine is poor (Full and Final settlement IVA agreed 18 months ago)

Would we ever be able to get a joint mortgage now? or is it worth trying again in 4.5 years time?

Thanks

Hi, if the mortgage is to go in joint names then I personally would think to wait until your credit file is tidied up. 6 years from date of IVA things should start looking much better and then a joint mortgage might be possible.

We have Ryan and Shaun our resident mortgage experts who post on the forum their contact details can be found in the ask experts a question link to the left, might be worth a word just to get clarification from an expert and then be able to forward plan.

Hi,
This might be possible, but i would need to know a lot more information from you. You would need about 30% to 40% deposit though.
If this is possible please get in touch directly.
Could your partner do this in their name only?
