I would seek advice from your IP ... A iva payment break of a month or two may be better than a mortgage break
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

I agree that an iva payment break is better than a break in your mortgage payment.

Good luck. Cars are great when they are running!!!

Oh this was us back in February - it was devastating and so expensive - the clutch and slave cyclinder needed replacing - the cost of the replacement parts and fitting cost more than the car is worth. But a payment break was the only way and our IP was very understanding.

You have my sympathy.

Just had a has dropping £1,000 bill to do the clutch on my car (the dual mass flywheel needed doing as well, and that was £350 just for the part).

So any of you with a clutch on its last legs: of your vehicle has a DMF, be prepared for a big bill.
My opinions are just that: Based on my experience and being a self-employed IVA customer.

Definitely try for an IVA break rather than a mortgage break. Cars are a nightmare for people in IVA's but IP's are considerate when things go wrong.
