Hello, I wondered if you could help me please. I did a full & final / one off payment IVA in December 2010 (that's when I sent the payment off), and received a completion certificate about a year later, in December 2011. Since the IVA, I have had two credit cards, both designed to rebuild your history (Aqua & Vanquis) which I have kept totally on top of, and have a perfect history with. I have also never missed a mortgage payment, so since the IVA, my credit file looks perfect. I am now thinking about moving house, and am really worried about the chances of getting another mortgage - I believe I can 'port' my current one, but my mortgage company won't increase the lending because of the IVA. I am worried about applying loads of times with different high street banks, as I know this knocks your credit score down, does anyone have any advice about this? Does the IVA remain there for the full 6 years even when it's a full & final settlement? Many thanks for any advice.

You should have little trouble sourcing a new lender so contact a broker. There are two here Shaun Vickery and Ryan and I am sure one of them would be able to help as they have a wealth of experience. Your own lender knows about the IVA but a new one may not.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The IVA will show on your file for 6 years and therefore your options will be relatively limited in the short-term but that's not to say that there won't be a suitable solution for you. A suitably qualified and experienced adviser will need to look at the rest of your circumstances together with your credit file to be able to say precisely as there are a number of other factors lenders will want to consider, depending on their specific criteria.
