Hi

We ended our iva early with a full and final.
We need a new boiler and don't have savings to get one. We would be able to afford to pay an amount each month though. Does anyone know of any schemes that would allow us to do this without a credit check??

We are aware that we don't want to build up debt again but at the same time, we can't heat the house as it stands for the winter!!

We do not get any benefits so would not qualify that way for any schemes.

Thanks

There are a few firms which allow you to rent a boiler out - the monthly coast includes maintainance etc - that be be worth looking into

Hi, have a look at Everlasting Boilers by a Shade Greener. They offer a good boiler for a monthly fee with no credit check. Includes all maintenance over 10-14 year period.

Thanks for replies. Do you know any names of boiler renting firms? Thanks

We did look into green deal but the 'free' money has ran out and we don't qualify for grants

Good luck - if you use the firm - it may be worth letting the people on the IVA Forum know about your experience. Boilers/heating is the vain in most peoples life whilst in an IVA.
Seem to happen when you can least afford it

I will call them tomorrow. Has anyone had personal experience using them?

I made an enquiry with Everlasting boilers and it was positive I have to say but decided against it. The only reason being I don't plan to stay in my house that long so would have cost me a fortune, however if you have no plans to move I personally would say this is a good deal. If you want ask Admin to give you my email address and I'll scan the booklet they gave me as I cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period with no problem.

Lesley, thank you for your input. That's what worries me about them. Just called them and they said lots of positive things, but they said it is 14 yrs till you have 'paid' it. How much would it cost to get out of the deal before then?

I'll go look out the booklet and let you know Blobby as I can't remember off hand and to me it wasn't viable but could see the benefit of the plan if I'd done it ten years ago.

Give me a few mins as I'm analysing some World War 1 Poetry (2 poems) don't I know how to live!

Thanks! Enjoy your poems ;-)

We plan on being here 5-10 years, but who knows really! What did you do in the end regarding your boiler? Are there any other options?

Hi, I've got the agreement out now. We'll have to assume it's the same but mine was only in July so I'm assuming it will be similar.

If prior to the 4th anniversary of agreement £2,745.00
I on or after fourth but prior to sixth anniversary of agreement £2,295
If on or ater the 6th but prior to the 8th £1,845
If on or after the 8th but prior to the 10th £1,395
If on or after the 12th but prior to the end of term £445
If on the end of term £nil.

As I will be leaving this house within the next couple of years, I went with a local plumber. But I'm not in an IVA now so we managed to scrape the money together which all but wiped us out but at least it's done.

Having said that if I was here long term I would have done it as includes all maintenance and services etc., for about a tenner a week.

Hope that helps.
