It depends upon the terms of your IVA -- some arrangements allow up to £500 without permission, some require permission. But this is a slippery slope and not what these clauses were intended for.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Taking on credit whilst in the iva opens up the possibility of further debt. £200 limit on a catalogue seems fine but where do you find the monthly repayments given the strict budget of the iva?

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

I think to have the catalogue is fine but why not pay it off in full each month as I do know I prefer to buy from a catalogue as I really don't do shopping prefer to try on in my own home in my own time and return most things!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi and welcome

I think it would be unwise to take on a catalogue account and am surprised that you have been offered the credit

Problem is that credit limits will rise and the temptation may be too great

Best to stay clear

If you get a monthly allowance for clothing etc there is nothing to stop you buying from a friend / family members catalogue.

As the others say it is better in an IVA to buy and pay at the same time.

If you are willing to pay off the bill every month, then just pay for it by debit card, you dont need to take on a credit limit account.Despite this the whole object of an IVA is to get you control your debts and stay out of trouble.
Over and out

You may find it difficult to set up an account. I had a Littlewoods catalogue when I set up my IVA although I did not owe them any money. I did not order for a while but when I did place a small order about 6 months after the start of my IVA they would not allow me any credit at all. I had held a catalogue with them for years as well.
