Not a problem as long as you fund this from your agreed expenditure allowance [making a saving from housekeeping for example]. If you want this expense added to your expenditure allowance and hence reducing your disposable income then your IP/creditors may have a problem with this.
There is an allowance for sports and hobbies within the guidelines and as Andy says it is up to you how you spend your own allowances. Your IP should have no interest at all.
I joined a gym while in my IVA - it was £19.99 a month with 24/7 access. I mentioned it to my IP that I will budget for it myself. If you ask for £40 a month off your IVA to cover this - will they cap these payments onto the end of your IVA? curious.
It is not something that many IP's will add on to expenses and definitely not over the £10 or so allowed for hobbies in the Step Change guidelines. However, if you can fund it from, say, housekeeping, all should be OK.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Thats what I did - took it from my housekeeping budget. Was not going to ask for a reduction as I am sure they would have added all the missed £20 onto the end of the IVA...Or at least I think they would.
I've always been a member and scrimped on the housekeeping to pay, it was only £12 @ month but I can only go up to 4pm daily. Works for me and still pay my membership, just need to remember to go.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
