Hi all, have been issued with a custody warrant from the enforcement of judgements office in Northern Ireland. They have said I will be called for an interview, just wondering has anyone had any experience of a meeting with these people? Just don't know what to expect and am a little bit scared about it
They are not to be feared but you must go and meet with them. The custody warrant only means your assets are in their custody and cannot be sold so have nothing to do with the police. The Enforcement of Judgements Office [EJO] will look at your circumstances and see if there is any way of recovering money for your creditors.
They are generally very easy to deal with and more than pleasant but if you ignore them and do not turn up for the meeting they have the power to get you arrested.
Rang them this morning Michael, the lady was very friendly. She says I will be issued a summons to appear, just wondering how this will be sent out. I don't really want it hand delivered as my parents are very ill at moment and I don't want them under any more pressie knowing about this
It will just be sent in the post so not much to worry about. The meeting is usually in the local court or their offices in Belfast and really nothing to be concerned about.
Try and get to the postman first or go back to the EJO and explain about your parents. They may be able to send the date by email rather than the post which would keep your parents totally out of it.
