I understood my IVA had be paid off with a PPI claim. Just been told by GT I still owe the money.

Hi
I had an Iva with money debt and credit which I started back in 2009
In the 2013 I got a phone call from someone saying they could get me a ppi claim to finish off my Iva
I assumed that my Iva had been paid off until today as I got a call from Grant Thornton saying that they took over my Iva in 2013
They said I have to pay £3349 to finish my Iva off
I was to the understanding that it had been paid off

Many thanks Ryan

Any PPI paid would be in addition to your monthly contributions and not as a replacement. Did the firm who said they could finish your IVA advise you to stop paying and did they say they were authorised by GT?

My problem is that they've only got into contact with me now after 18 months from taking over the Iva
From money debt in credit
The lady on the phone confirmed that they had been sending post to my old addres which was on file but also my new address was on file to
I asked her why no one had called me since they took over and she confirmed that yesterday's phone call was the first even though my number has been on the file since the Iva started back in 2009
I'm gutted really as my Iva finish date was May 2014
So now I've got another 13 months to its finished
I was to the understanding that if I missed 3 or more payments it would of cancelled my Iva
Everything just seems a bit odd to me

Work with GT on this matter and be pleased that your iva has not failed. Another 13 months and it will be finishef. PPI payments support a higher return to creditors whilst monthly payments continue.
Did you ever receive in writing confirmation of your iva payments to stop ?
