This is just to see if anyone has been in the same position. I have my CC but IVA will be on file until 2017. I'm applying for a cleaning job with a contractor to clean in a high street bank and will be subject to a vetting procedure by the bank, even though I will be a key holder and be on the premises out of hours. Do you think I will fail the vetting because of IVA on file? I've already highlighted my position to the cleaning manager but he says its nothing to worry about, although I did have to explain to him what an IVA was!

I woukd hope not. You have been upfront and thats all you can do. You maybe could approach the bank direct and explain if you xan glean who the vetting process is done by.

I doubt it will be a problem, especially if you have been upfront about it. Good luck and let us know if you get the job.

I feel that it shouldn't be a problem as any cleaning staff would never have access to anything such as the vault or customer records.

But let us know how you get on.

It does make my blood boil when people in IVAs are seen as somehow less honest!

It does make my blood boil when people in IVAs are seen as somehow less honest! - See more at: http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?wh ... 505#577100

It is frustrating - if anything the vast majority of us do everything we can to make sure that we have learnt from the whole experience and probably end up a better "risk".

Re. banks etc. it is possible that an IVA could work against someone - it just depends on the level of access. I personally do not apply for any job that might involve a credit score.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Well after a very long wait and a long vetting procedure, I'm pleased to say that I start my new job next week. I was upfront about my IVA and my new manager was very positive that it wouldn't be a problem. Just thought I would update the forum, so that people can see an IVA doesn't always hold you back. Just be honest about it.

Well done Essexlady!

As an Essex Lady myself, the effect of how an IVA on your records could be viewed by others is at times a worry - and I do deal with money and contracts worth up to the millions in my job on a regular basis!

I have personally not had to disclose to anyone I work with, and noone has asked, and I have a check every 6 months, but this does not show on the ones they do for some reason- which is good !
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!

Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA :)

Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!
