A joint IVA is in breach, and due to fail shortly. Ex partner (22 years married) left matrimonial home (alcoholic) and ignoring correspondence sent to him. Tried to set IVA in own name, however not viable. Once creditors start to descend on me, how can i ensure they chase him for half the debt as it was joint debt even though a lot in my name due to his age (75) and I'm 52?

Hi Sandra. Any debt in your name only ( even though you took it out together) will be your responsibility alone and the creditors will have no interest in your ex partner.

Do you own the house, and, if so, is there a great deal of equity there ? If not, consider bankruptcy.

Might I ask why the IVA is in breach ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
