Hello, I have been in an iva for the past 3 1/2 years with no arrears, my daughter asked me today if she could move back home to live with me for up to a year in order to save up for a mortgage deposit (she currently lives with her fiance who is asking his parents if he can move back with them). If she moves home but pays no rent to me is this likely to be accepted by my iva company or will they insist she pay rent to me to put into my iva? Many thanks for any replies.

Your daughters income will not be considered in your iva although it would normally be expected that some rent be payable if she is in employment.

Surely if it's a temporary arrangement and she pays no rent she's just a "guest" in your house?

I've had in laws staying as guests for months at a time. It's never even crossed my mind to tell the IP as they pay nothing and cost nothing.

Just my opinion :)

If you do not ask for any increase in allowances it is of no concern to your IP if she stays rent free.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
