Hi,
When should I be able to apply for a credit card (probably Vanquis)?
I am just looking for a low limit card to improve my credit score.
I have my CC.
I am still on the insolvency register
My IVA should still be on my file until May 2016

I got a card from Vanquis whilst my IVA was still on my credit files, but I was off the register. I think acceptance is more luck than judgement.

Use it for stuff you would be spending on anyway ( petrol for instance ) and pay it off each month. You will start collecting those green ticks.

That's the plan. I will set up a direct debit to pay the full amount each month.

I just closed my vanquis account down as I was able to get a mainstream card but I have to say I've been very impressed from start to finish with vanquis. Even the closures procedure was easy.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

I applied online today, had a phone call and was accepted all in less than 10 minutes.

I applied and got the Vanquis card when I had completed my IVA. I still use it now as I pay it off each month the interest is negligible but I might apply for a bank one soon.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I got a Santander credit card!
Still waiting on my IVA being finalised, but I got a £500 limit. Will just use it for fuel and pay off in full every month.

Well done, siorghra. Santander can be notoriously inconsistent post IVA.
