Hi,

I started an IVA in June 2009, completed in October 2014 and received my completion letter in February 2015.

My wife and I are looking at buying a new home on the Government's Help to Buy scheme and have put down a small reservation fee on a property. However, immediately after we were told by the recommended mortgage broker that no bank would be able to offer us a mortgage for at least another 3 years.

This was a shock to us as with the IVA completed and removed from my credit file, my credit report is excellent.

Is there anything I can do to get a mortgage?

There are experts here who specialise in securing mortgages for those of us who may not have a perfect credit history. Try Shaun Vickery and his company The Select Partnership.
Details can be found in the experts section on the left of the page displayed.

Good luck !

Pop over to this page:

http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/forum_experts.asp

and scroll down to the experts details section. The broker you have spoken too is wrong, but probably only deals with a limited panel of lenders. Ryan and Shaun both have experience in placing mortgages for those with adverse credit in their past.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

On the face of it the information you have been provided by the broker you went to is entirely incorrect. I see that you have already been in contact with Ryan and hopefully he will be able to help.
