I don't know how my IVA will succeed as none of expenditure allowances seem to match.

I have just started an IVA n looking through the expenditure form hardly none of it matches!! My council tax arrears are included in the IVA and have been told by the council I won't need to pay until next year! But the expenditure allows me for council tax. I obviously was so desperate I went in blindly but none of it seems to match and I don't quite understand how I am going to succeed without failure

Hi and welcome,

If your arrears are included then you may be ok but not totally sure - which company are you with?

As council tax is a debt owing then in the first year it all goes to the iva then in following years you pay as normal.

Someone discovered a loophole that set a precedent.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Your payments should be higher for the first 6-7 months until March of next year. The council tax is a debt so you do not have to pay it for the current year but you will need to do it going forward from 2016/17. Your IVA payments should decrease by the amount of the monthly council tax payment.
