My father has an IVA. Can he stand as my guarantor for a rented cottage ?

My father has a iva in place and has done for years . Can he stand as my guarantor for a rented cottage in want to move in to . He earns enough but has this iva

He could with permission from his IP but he would fail a credit check. It may be better to find someone else to act as guarantor.

Not all landlords carry out credit checks so they may not pick up on the IVA but that aside. If you can't pay the rent for any reason your Dad may find himself facing a debt he cannot afford, which could put his IVA in jeopardy. I'm afraid given his insolvency you might need to find another guarantor.
