You could look at your credit report to start with to see what is showing there.

You also need to pull together any documentation you have and start making sense of it.

An IVA might help but they will be expecting you to provide this.

Also do not go with the first company that yo contact - shop around and see what they say.

A debt relief order may be an option so speak to CAB.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Good advice from Lifenoteasy and you should get some advice quickly. An insolvency firm can at least get the bailiffs to hold off and if necessary get a court order to stop them while the proposals are finalised. Not all debts have to be listed for them to be bound so if you have forgotten about a small debt or two you will still be protected.

You need to speak to someone to find out if an IVA is a viable option for you or whether Bankruptcy might be a better route. Perhaps Stepchange can help you too?http://www.stepchange.org I presume you lost any assets you had in the original Bankruptcy. Do you have any diea how much your debts are at all?

You will probably find they are debt collectors, not bailiffs and you do not have to speak to them.

Speak to one or two companies - give Andy Davie/Vincent Bond a ring for some free advice.

Be certain that these people at the door are baliffs not debt collectors, there is a lot of difference in their powers.

Baillifs will probably have court orders which can allow them access to your house. Debt collectors you don't have to open the door to.

There are different types of bailiffs, so if they are bailiffs then it is a good idea to find out what debt they are trying to collect, for example it may be council tax.

It may also be wise to get a free copy of your credit report. You can do this for yourself by visiting Noddle, or you can ask one of the debt charities, it certainly doesn't have to be the one I work for, to order a free Experian report for you. The key to any debt solution though is affordability, or not as the case may be, so it is also a good idea to draw up your own budget, and then speak to a debt professional to go through it again, this time with a trained eye, so to speak.

The fact that you may be paying something is not an indication of whether you can afford it, and vice versa.

If anyone presents saying that we a bailiff ask for the credentials through the door letterbox, and the relevant court paperwork. You can then phone the court (get number fm your own source, not on letter the guve you) to indeed verify if that order number is granted against you. In the vent it may be bailiffs (court appointed) they may enter your property though an open or unlocked door, debt collectors may not, so keep doors and windows locked until you know for sure who is calling

caB info here https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt- ... /bailiffs/

In the interim if there is a debt collector it may be one from an old debt that was captured by your previous bankruptcy and they have bought the debt and it may not even be due but are trying to squeeze money out of you without knowing that was settled via BR.

Ask them to provide proof of the debt and who it is too and to check your old bankrupcy paperwork to make sure it wasn't a debt covered by that, in which case explain that to them and tell them to do one ! They can't collect on something that was already. Cancelled by the bankruptcy. Your noddle report will help here too

Are you aware if you have actually run up any new debt ?
