I was contacted by freeman Jones who my iva is with 6mths ago saying a credit card company had approached them saying I owed then a large amount of money,I have never even heard of this company and certainly have no debt with them, how can this happen were did they get my name from, and as iv said to freeman Jones I'm sure I would have been chased for a debt like this if it was thought to be mine, also checked credit history to be on the safe side and rang this particular company up they have never heard of me ,really don't understand this

Hi and welcome,

Get FJ to chase this up if it is not your debt.

Did another company buy this debt?

A lot of the time debts get sold on. At the end of the day this isn't really your concern. You just need to tell FJ that you have never heard of this creditor and have no idea what the debt relates to and they need to provide more information and proof.

Hi Janedw97,

My name is Steven and I'm part of the team at Freeman Jones.

As Lisa has already mentioned the debt may have been sold on.

I'd like to look into this for you though and help put your mind at rest.

Please email me directly to Steve.hewitt@freemanjones.co.uk so I can find out more information for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Steven Hewitt - a member of the team at Freeman Jones

Hopefully Steven will sort this and either challenge the claim or satisfy you that it does relate to one of your original debts.
