hi i am a yr into an iva and my husband is opening a business, he wants me to work for him, it is a ltd company. would i need to tell the company the iva is with and would the company be at risk because of it?
Also, we don't know what title i should hold, obviously i shouldn't be a director but could i be a partner or would it be best to describe me as executive assistant?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
You can be a director while in an IVA but there are caveats and perhaps better not to become one unless necessary. Any earnings from the company would need to be declared to your IP but you can hold any position. A partnership is a different entity to a limited company so manager, executive assistant etc are fine.
If you are to be granted a shareholding this could lead to complications so your husband should consider legal advice before he makes any decisions in this regard.
Calling yourself Manager sounds fine. As Michael says 'Partner' would not apply to a Ltd Company and could lead to confusion. You will need to ensure your inform your IP about your change in employment and income. Best to be a normal employee and get your wages etc to go through PAYE in the normal way.
