Hi, I have recently become in danger of being made homeless. I have parents who are willing to put up a deposit for a mortgage, but how do I get one when I'm halfway through an IVA?

Hi and welcome,

Sorry to hear of your problems but hate to say this that you will not be able to get a mortgage.

Just a quick one - why are you likely to be made homeless? Are you struggling with rent?

I am afraid that you will not get a mortgage for a number of years yet.
What is the problem with the current rental ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Hi there and welcome. Sorry to hear of your current circumstances. Can your parents buy a house for themselves and you rent it from them, as an alternative? You can pay them rent whilst in it.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I think you need to solve one problem at a time. Why were you almost made homeless and is there a reason you cannot move and rent somewhere else?

My landlord has decided to increase the rent by £100 per month and I can't afford it. I don't have the money to move. I'm half way through... I know I would need to wait unril it drops off my credit file, it just feels hopeless
I can only spend what I have!

Hi,

You need to speak to your IP to see if you can lower your payments. See if you can find any private landlords in your area so that you could possibly move?

See if your IP will give you a payment break to cover any costs of moving etc, which shouldn't be too difficult and find somewhere else to live. Some private landlords do not do a credit check and even if they do not all are concerned about an IVA. See if your current landlord will give you a reference too.

Best of luck.
