My friend has a loan with Amigo and I am her guarantor, if she has gone for an IVA does this mean they can refuse and go to the guarantor or do they have to accept the IVA first?

As you have guaranteed it you would have to pay it back.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Agree with lifenoteasy - as guarantor you will be liable for it if she goes for an IVA. Even if it is accepted then you are still liable.

They will likely look to you for full repayment rather than await the outcome/final dividend in the IVA to see what the shortfall is.

If you pay it off in full you will have a subrogated claim as a creditor and can then claim as a creditor in the IVA.
