Hi I've been told that an IVA is best option for me. I'm signing papers in the morning and so nervous incase I don't get accepted! How long does it take once u have signed papers, to find out if I've been accepted or not? Is there any reason I may not be accepted even tho I've been told by Harrington brooks that it's the best option that is available for me? I'm so worried!
If you have just had an initial meeting there is still quite a way to go, HB will need to gather documentation from you, verify information and put a proposal together for your creditors. A creditor meeting date will be set and after the meeting you will be informed about the outcome of your IVA application.
This process can take several weeks
Speak to several other companies to get a second opinion or at the very least ensure that HB have answered all your questions and concerns
If the papers you are signing are your proposal documents, then about a month more and you will know the outcome. You should be given the date with a week or so.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Also an iva company can only make recommendation - the final decision on what the best option is comes down to you.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Make sure you open a bank account with one who is not a creditor. The Co-op come recommended but don't touch HSBC or First Direct as they will close the account as soon as you enter an IVA.

hi and welcome. Make sure you're 100% and have spoken to 2 or 3 companies before proceeding is my best personal opinion. You have to be comfortable, an IVA is a big commitment that last 60/72 months ordinarily.
All the best, any questions, you've found us now so just ask.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
They have to give creditors 2 weeks notice of the meeting and should give you the date as soon as it is set, within about a week. They should keep you fully informed.
They won't look too deeply into your spending unless you have been gambling.
I'm locking your other thread as it can cause confusion if there are too many going on.

Just to add that you need to put down your expenditure and your income and let the IP company sort it out for you.
