HI we are due to finish our iva in march 2016, not needed to release any equity so it will be after 5 years, we want to move to a bigger house (bigger mortgage) will we be able to do this straight away or will we need to wait longer??

Hi and welcome,

Your IVA will be on your record for six years from the original start date so a new mortgage won't be available straight away.,

You can speak to either Ryan or Shaun (details under the ask experts a question link on the left hand side of the page) to see if they will be able to assist you.

You will probably also need to wait until you have come off the resister too before you can begin to tidy up your credit rating. This takes up to 3 months from when you get your CC. Some IP firms can take up to 6 months before they issue the cc.

So you could be waiting until December 2016 before you can do anything.
