I have just finished my AAT and I am looking to relocate to London! I have been offered a role in a chartered accountancy firm where they will put me through my ACCA qualification (dream job). I'd like some advice I have been in a DMP for 3 years now (7k debt) was only 20 and worried hid from parents etc.. I am now 10 months from paying it off and I feel telling my new employer will put them off me aswell as maybe the ACCA Rejecting my student application can anyone shed some light? Many thanks.

Hi and welcome,

Not sure about this one but you could try an anonymous call to the company to see what they think about this?

On your application does it say anything about being in debt? A DMP doesn't show up anywhere other than on your credit record but if it's checked then it might flag up to the employer. Best to check first.

A DMP is an informal arrangement which will not show up on insolvency searches, but your credit files will be less than healthy.

Assuming they have not asked the question, it might not be a bar.

I would check with the relevant professional bodies to see if they publish any guidelines.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Some bodies do ask if you have made any arrangements with creditors which could cover a DMP. It may be worth speaking to the Institute of Chartered Accountants as you will be obliged to fill out a fit and proper questionnaire each year.

IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Are you sure this is going to be raised?
