hello
I had an IVA registered in August 2011 and I have paid it off early January 2015. Myself and my partner are looking to buy a property on a shared ownership basis but the mortgage company which was recommded to us are not able to help due to my IVA. they say it has to be registered for 6 years before I can look at a mortgage. Is this something which will be accross the board with lenders or is it worth shopping around? many thanks

Hi and welcome,

The IVA will remain on your credit for six years regardless of the fact that you paid it off early.

You could speak to either Ryan or Shaun (details under the ask experts a question link on the left hand side of the page) for some advice as they have been instrumental in helping many posters on here.
