Good morning all,

I am sure that this has been asked before but I am unable to find the answer:

We completed our IVA in Dec 2016 (CC received) and the time has come to consider changing our car. MOT due in late Jan 17. Ours is 15yrs old- we have had for 14 of them. It has cost £700 since Jan in repairs and I had it valued last week for £100 mainly due to its high mileage as it is VGC and dent free. We have had a keen eye on one at AC for a long while and wondered if we are likely to be accepted for finance before we go through the rigmarole of visiting the site etc.Their APR is 8%

We refuse to go down the high interest route and did apply for a 4% bank loan with Santander 2 weeks ago which was refused.

We signed up to a new credit agreement with SCS in Jan/Feb 17 for much needed carpets and furniture without any problem.

We wondered if others in the same boat have dealings with AC post CC?

many Thanks all

If your credit record is clear then you should be ok but of course you should be wary of doing too many applications as it will impact on your credit rating when anyone looks at it.

Is it worth just making a call to Available Car to see if you would be accepted? Anonymous and just ask if they will accept people post IVA completion.

Assuming yours was a 5 year IVA, completed at term, your credit file should clear in a few months, so, I would wait until then, make sure it is clear, and then apply. The SCS payments will provide you with a good history too.

Have a read here to help with the clean up:

Thanks Kallis,

I have already been called by their Leeds site after I expressed an interest of the car on their website.

I didn't mention the IVA but asked that Q about the possibility of pre finance and the lady said that applications were done against a particular vehicle etc and they wouldn't be able to see whether we could have credit beforehand.

She said that she would contact us this week (post family holiday) so if she does I will ask the question. She did suggest visiting her site but the Cannock one is half the distance away from us which we would deal with.

Many thanks for all the guidance.

Yes we had a 5 year IVA and an 12 month extension (Equity Release clause). I think; without digging out the files that we finished last Nov 2016 and received the CC just before last Xmas.

We are specifically looking for a particular model of Ford Kuga as like our existing car and many before it we will keep for a long time.

I am still interested to hear from anyone that has used AC?

regards, Scooby

I assume by AC you mean arnold clark? They have many methods of getting finance from a variety of sources so be honest about things when you visit.

Good luck.

Yes sorry, AC refers to Available Car as suggested in the title. I was trying to be clever in shortening it which many others do.
