Im a security officer working a 6 on 3 off shift pattern. Ive been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since february and am struggling with it. My doctor said it is probably due to the long hours and stress why im struggling. Ive been offered a new job working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern but it works out i would be £100 a month worse off than my current job. Health wise for me it would be alot more beneficial. I have asked my IP if they would consider me taking the new job and reducing my payments by around £70 a month. The other £30 would be made up on the reduced petrol i would be doing. Has abyone ever come accross a similar situation in the past? Going forward im worried about my health doing the 6 on 3 off and up at 4am each day.

Hi Grant,

Sorry to hear of your health problems.

Hopefully your IP will be sympathetic as your health is paramount - speak to them and explain everything.

This sort of situation does arise from time to time and most IPs and creditors are sympathetic, as long as it doesn't bring your payments down to an unviable level. After all -- if your health goes south, so do the chances of them getting any money back at all if the IVA fails !
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

This seems more than reasonable and I doubt if creditors will have an issue. If you have any back up from your doctor for example this will be helpful and send that to the IP.

Your health is your priority. Don't feel you need to turn down this job because of your IVA. Yes speak to your IP but if your health is deteriorating because of the shifts then it sounds regardless of how this affects your IVA (hopefully it can be resolved) then it's the best option for you.
