Now 2 months in (I know it's early) but life is so much better for us as a family we actually have a few quid spare each month and even managed to take the children to the cinema which we haven't done in 4+ yrs and not having to worry about where the next card payment will come from is such a relief. But I'm worried the ip will see this and drastically increase our payments next yr...

Thats great news Ant and so pleased that you doing well. I don't think the IP will be too bothered about the cinema trip!

I take it the letters are the annual statements? They are supposed to send them out. If they are still the old 'cough up or else' ones then get your IP to sort them out.

They are letters stating I've defaulted over 2 months I have been informing my IP of these to be told not to worry as it takes time for info to pass down to them as iva was only started on August 17th

If you can manage a small treat every month from your allowances go for it. Your allowances are yours to do what you chose with ...your IP will only question it should you suddenly say you can't cope with things.

Well done with settling in so well. If you can budget within your agreed allowances for a modest treat now and again, so much the better.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

A treat every so often, if you can manage it, will make the journey so much easier for you & your family.

I got letters for a few months after IVA started, i think it just takes time for information to filter through to the right dept. I phoned a few of them & gave them IVA comp details.

Nice to hear the IVA has given you come relief. Not all IPs review bank statements so they may never know about the 'treats' in any event.

That's great - I am sure there are some deals to be had out there.
