Hello and welcome. I would suggest you have a chat with a couple firms to see what the options available to you are, accordimg to your full set of circumstances. A read around the forum will give you some clues as to the options and issues.

You just need to call or email any insolvency firm for free advice. You could also speak with someone independent such as the CAB or you could try one of the bank funded charities which the banks actively promote. Ring around and see who gives the best advice and who you feel most comfortable with.
I was in your position 8 years ago, I did nothing and ignored things, 8 years later I am 50,000 in debt. My advice is to seek help sooner rather than later. I sought advice, decided on an iva ( still awaiting creditors meeting) but relief was indescribable. Take advice from this site, it's a lifeline. Good luck to you, plenty of us in your position
I agree Moira! don't ignore it - it doesn't go away, just grows! And good luck to you too. Personally, the IVA was the best financial decision I've ever made. Aside the mortgage, I still can't believe being debt free - and that it feels so good. Sure all will go fine with your creditors meeting soon too.

Great advice from those going through the early stages of an iva. You need to address it now - you have done the hardest thing by acknowledging you need some support ... we are here for you when you have some questions but first identify a iva provider and start to get the ball rolling ...you will feel relief I promise.

I was owing £15k just 2 years ago and before i know i was in debt by £31k.. act sooner than later.. debts dont go away by ignoring them ive learnt my lesson. The last day of january i woke up without even get out of bed i made a call to first charity ive found on the net had a nearly 2 hours chat and by admitting i have a debt problem i was already relief.. i am also now waiting for my creditors meeting on the 3rd of April and everyday i think why i didnt do this earlier. This forum helped me a lot. Full of nice and helpfull people here answered all my questions helped me with my stress and handling the situation.

Whatever has happened, rest assured that whoever you speak to should not judge you. If they do then find someone else that won't. You will also not be telling them anything that they have not heard many, many times before.

There will be a few options open to you and you need to take advice as to which is best in your circumstances. Speak to CAB, a specialist insolvency charity or a licesned Insolvency Practitioner.
