Account closure and account default date? The difference being?

Hi guys I've not posted before but a little background info. I entered an IVA in June 2010 and I have received my CC from Creditfix at lightening speed on 4th this month, hence IVA IS DONE!
Im in the process of clearing up my credit file and have opened an account with capital one with a low limit so to pay for fuel every month along with obtaining a mobile on contract with O2 ( part of which forms an unsecured loan for the handset). Both report to credit reference agencies I might add so those green ticks can build up.

I've noticed that some default dates are after the commencement of my IVA in June 2010 (some by a few months) and I've sent the PJG covering letter asking for the dates that are way out to be rectified (along with a copy of my CC)

I have also noted that some accounts that have been previously defaulted are showing on the closed (satisfied) account page with the account closure dates being halfway through my IVA and some being in 2014!

My question - is it 6 years after the default date that the record drops off my credit file or is it 6 years from the account closure/end date?

Many thanks

Stevo

Hi and well done !

The key date for the 6 year countdown is the default date. Keep an eye open for any Notices of Correction which might refer to the IVA. The CRA will remove these on request.

IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Cheers foggy,

So when Barclays have closed an account in 2014 and the default date is still showing in August 2010 I only need to be concerned about the default date not the account closure date?

Equally can I ask them to change the default date to June 2010 even though the account is shown closed/settled?

You are within your rights to insist on the default date being accurate. However, Barclays are notorious for not co-operating. In reality, if you ask them the August date will have passed by the time they respond and the default will have gone anyway.

Equally I was looking for all creditors including Barclays and Lowell group who have taken over the debt to update their default dates on my cras in the near future so everything disappears on the 6 year anniversary of my IVA commencing in June 2016.

Comments from Foggy greatly appreciated.

Just so I understand in laymens terms - the default date is the only date I need be concerned about right?

Accounts that were included in the IVA are shown as having been closed in 2014 and I'd hate for the IVA that commenced in 2010 to not drop off my record until 2020!

Any advice is greatly appreciated
