Can you have a cheque guarantee card whilst in an IVA? Assuming the bank lets you? And assuming i ever get into an IVA with my current situation....

I have one Steve with Smile online banking, I have this with the approval of my IP although I only use it for school activities for daughter as they insist on payment by cheque the whole time even for minimal amounts. The account has no overdraft facility and I only pay into what I need to spend on cheques and use my Natwest account for all other expenses with Solo card.

We don't have a cheque book or card with Nationwide. I have kept our Barclays account open, but as they are one of my creditors, there is all of 45p in there!
I shall keep it going until such time as they either close it, or my IVA finishes and I can pay money in and use the cheque book again.

Hi There,
I have been told, but can't verify, the Co-op will offer you a cheque book after six months. You do miss the security of a cheque book, but at the same time it helps not to have one as the risk of further increasing debt is removed. Be sure you want a guarantee card for the right reasons.
Take care,
Hugs,
Chardonnay

I've never used my guarantee card at all, I only needed the cheque book for daughters school as they insist on chq payment or it's a visit to the finance office and she won't do that
