I have been in debt for the past 2 years [£84,000]mostly gambling. All on credit cards and a couple of loans.
All came to ahead when Mint let me go £2500 over my limit and then asked for £2800 as a min payment.
Started a DMP with 123debt solution and payed for a year £700 amonth, then Innovative finance lured me with the offer of being able to get my debts written of, I know stupid!
I then read an article by Ann Marie Woodhall of Bankruptcy4u. Decided to go bankrupt, but after speaking to Ann Marie she told me I would be better of doing a Full and Final IVA as I had equity in my house.
She put me on to Guardian Business Recovery in Ludgate Sq, London.
Today the meeting took place and my IVA was approved 19p in the pound.
With out the fantastic advice from these 2 companies I would have been paying for over 11 years.
Now I just have my mum to pay back some time.
Be careful out there, companies are making money on the back of our missery.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about the problems you have had and congratulations on getting your IVA approved.

Have you managed to control your gambling?

Congratulations- a full and final IVA certainly sounds like a sensible option to consider in your situation, and it must feel great to get it accepted. :)

I have stopped gambling for 4 months, and it feels great to have the burden of the debt of my back.
I found the most difficult thing was finding someone with inpartial advice.

Well done gambler firstly for sorting your debts and secondly for kicking the habit-we have all gambled with our money one way or another which is why we are on this forum.Do remember though not to beat yourself up over this and try not to have too many regrets-hindsight is a good thing *if only* never got the bills paid.Be proud of yourself - remember it is as much the creditors fault for us being able to get their money so easily as it is ours for spending it.How many of us can justify where it(the money) all went?
I cant!!!
